IT Execs Gather at Fenway for Business Intelligence and Baseball
November 21, 2011 – Westport, CT - IT Executives gathered at Fenway Park in Boston last Wednesday night for an evening of Business Intelligence (BI) exploration. The event, hosted by SAP, focused on best practices for integrating and leveraging SAP BusinessObjects tools within an organization. Attendees were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of the historic ballpark, cocktail hour at the EMC Club and seminar.
Presentations were delivered by Chateaux Senior BI Architect Ken Zimmerman, and Major League Baseball (MLB) BI Manager, Oscar Fernandez.
Mr. Zimmerman's presentation, "Empowering Users with BusinessObjects," showcased Chateaux's methodologies for increasing business-user functionality and adoption of Business Objects tools. The presentation highlighted the importance of allocating sufficient time and resources during the definition and design phase of BI projects prior to building and delivering the solution. Utilizing this methodology, Mr. Zimmerman and Chateaux have been able to deliver comprehensive BI solutions that allow business-users to be self-reliant, rather than creating further dependence on IT departments to render reports and analysis. Having worked with Business Objects technologies since 1993, Mr. Zimmerman shared several experiential case studies to illustrate Chateaux's processes and deliver insight into the evolving discipline of BI.
Other topics discussed by SAP included buzz-worthy BI trends such as mobility, text analytics, and in-memory computing. Many of these functionalities are included in or designed for the latest release of the SAP BusinessObjects 4.0 platform.
