The Challenge:
The North American automobile manufacturing market is very competitive.  The ability to monitor and quantify elements of the manufacturing process would not only save a company time and money, but play a significant role in growing market share. 

This organization understood and excelled at the automobile manufacturing process.  However, the Business Intelligence (BI) system that this client used was not as efficient as their manufacturing process.

The BI system being used was a combination of Business Objects 6.5.2 and JAVA based systems.  This client had data coming from and going to many different sources and destinations.  This organization also used dashboards, but the management team and executives required a more robust and efficient system.  This company required a BI system that was efficient, reliable, and easy to use.

Chateaux software was chosen as their Business Objects partner to migrate to Business Objects XI R2 (BO XIR2) as well as build a sophisticated dashboard system.

The Approach:
Chateaux Software’s team migration approach offered the flexibility and knowledge that this client desired.  The Chateaux Software migration team met regularly with the clients’ project staff and created a migration assessment that was specific to this client.

This migration assessment covered topics ranging from the server operating system, the new security model in place with BO XIR2, and the overall benefits of migrating to BO XIR2.

The Chateaux Software migration team worked with the client to design and develop a new security model that took advantage of BO XIR2’s new object based security model and met the high standard of security in place with the client.

The Chateaux Software migration team worked closely with the stakeholders and the clients’ project team to identify the elements that were to be migrated.  These elements include, but were not limited to, users, groups, reports, universes, and database connections.  During this process, the client wanted to improve upon certain reports or universes. 

During the migration assessment the client was made aware of new and exciting features that were now available.  The Chateaux Software migration team worked with the client to develop new reports and universes that would improve the clients’ quantifying ability.  Also included in this process was the use of high end graphics to use as a backdrop for management and executive level dashboards.

The Result:
At the completion of the migration, the client was able to realize a more robust reporting system, that included over 150 reports, and many universes.  All of users would benefit from the new features and technologies of the new Web Intelligence application.   Including, according to Business Objects, up to 400% increased throughput. Besides the new and modified reports, the client had a new and improved dashboard.
