In its simplest terms, ad hoc query and analysis is defined as the ability to query data without a structured format; in effect it is the opposite of standard reporting. While many systems and vendors claim to support ad hoc query and analysis, in most cases this takes the form of a "less structured" reporting experience.
 However, Business Objects is different. It enables true ad hoc query.
